What Benny’s Been Up To

One of Coop Benny’s favorite things to do is to push his cars along the deck railing. He sits on his knees and focuses so intently on his cars. This reminds us so much of Griffin when he was this age. The other night I was playing with a new lens and captured these at sunset. Our deck is on the second story and gives us beautiful views of the Texas hill country.
Please no comments on his crazy hair! I did trim it after seeing these photos! ; )

Boys N’ Horses

More fun on the farm with the boys.
Griffin & Cooper checking out the big boy

Cooper has no fear of such large animals. In fact here he is trying to get into the field with Mac.

Carson’s Beach Shots

Where do I start with Carson?! This kid is full of personality, equivalent to 3 kids worth. We call him the reporter. He is always up on the latest news in our house, and loves to share all information with any outside person including all details. We’ve learned to keep most conversations private from him if we don’t want the world to know anything. ha! The memory on this kid is even more shocking. He can tell us things from back when he was just 2 yrs old. We will drive by a place and he will ramble off something that happened there several years ago. We say he is like his Uncle Tim in this way (Rick’s brother, who also has a very good memory).
Carson is very cautious and timid about trying most things. He is not fond of roller coasters, we discovered this at Disney. He is not very daring, yet he is amazing at sports and loves to practice soccer, baseball and football so he can in his words “be the bestest on the team”.
He has informed us that he wants us to “Have a boy baby because girls just give him headaches” Hows that for a boy that knows what he wants? Oh that Carson keeps me on my toes everyday!

Parker’s New Bed

Last week we surprised Parker with a new big girl bed. It was long overdue. She was still sleeping in her converted toddler bed. She was so thrilled when she walked into her room and saw this great big bed all for her.
The bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids, the Aloha collection, which is super cute and so
“grown up”. Here are some shots of the monkey’s jumping on the bed.

And this last one is simply pure joy, all 4 kids snuggled together. A rare moment captured.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom

Let me brag about my mom for just a second. First off let me announce to the bloggers out there… My mom finished a 1/2 Iron Man today (Sat) in Panama City FL. For those of you not familiar on what that is. A 1/2 iron man is a 1 mile swim in the ocean, choppy & rough, 13 mile run, and a 56 mile bike ride. My amazing mother finished 15th place out of 26th in her age group (which I will not mention, she would kill me!! Not that she’s old or anything, but you know how us ladies can be about age). She finished the race in 6 hrs and 44 minutes. Then she called to tell me that she was alive. ha! Way to go mom. You never cease to amazing me or surprise me. I am proud of your amazing ability to do anything you set your mind to. Of course that is not the only thing great about my mom. She also raised me as a single mother basically since I was 2 yrs old. She is a very successful business owner & a great athlete. I learned to be an independent, strong woman from her.
I love you mom, thanks for all that you’ve sacrificed for me over the years. Thank you for your unconditional love and thank you for being my best friend.

Photo below also includes my other best friend, Kelly & her hoot of a mama Michelle.
All photos were taken on our yearly Mother Daughter trip to NYC in Sept. We are going back in July for our next one!

I’ve been tagged… twice!

Ok Julie T. you pushed me to actually write 7 things about myself. I forget who tagged me first, maybe Jessica D? Anyways here it goes…

1. I am a very low maintenance type of girl. I really don’t like getting all done up. I only do my hair & makeup for church, unless I have somewhere else to go. Just like you Julie, I live in reefs and ponytails. thanks to my mom I have enough reef sandals to match just about anything I own. :)
2. I used to shop for myself like crazy. I was a clothes hog for sure. Every since kids I really don’t shop for myself at all. Except for my yearly NYC trips with my mom. Something about going to the mall and shopping for myself doesn’t excite me! Now I do love to shop for my kids and Rick.
3. I am a total type A personality. I am extremely organized, structured and scheduled. I am a great time manager and tend to get a lot of stuff done in just one day. You will rarely see me sitting down doing nothing. I am always on the go, trying to do something productive.
4. I love only 2 reality shows. But only 2 of them. We have watched every season of Survivor and all the seasons of Amazing Race.
5. I love Dr. Laura. I listen to her radio program everyday (Austin peeps its on AM1270 from 11-2) I only catch about an hour a day but its well worth it. She gets right to the point. Even though she is not a Christian she has great Christian values & advice. Rick took me to see her live 2 yrs ago for V-day. It was a blast.
6. I have been to 35 of the 50 states and to 4 countries outside of the US.
7. I have a strong passion for photography and can barley go one day without taking a picture. I feel the same thing about editing the pictures. In fact I can’t stand to look at a picture straight out of the camera it has to be edited. I know I’m picky.

I tag Cortney, Angel & Marcey (since all of my church buddies have already been tagged)

We’re Short 2 Kids

We sent our “big” boys to Houston to be with Rick’s parents for 4 days. This is our first time ever sending them off without us. They were SO excited. Nano (R’s mom) took them swimming, bike riding, to the museum to see the dinosaur exhibit, and the list goes on and on. They then went to Melissa’s horse farm (R’s sister) to play with their cousins & fishing with Granddaddy. What a great time they are having.
In the mean time…. Life at our house is really well, quiet! We spent our last 4 days with 2 kids saying wow this is really easy! What do people do with 2 kids? Well for one they have conversations! Imagine that?! I don’t know how many times we said “it’s so quiet” over the last 4 days.
Here is what it looks like to have 2 kids.
They play quietly. There is NO fighting. I have not referred a fight since Sat.
They share their toys. There is no competition between them. They are not the same age. ha!
This has been refreshing. I think I will sign them up for summer at Nano’s! :) Don’t get me wrong we miss our little buddies, they add a lot of life to our house. But sometimes a little break from 1,000 questions a day, and the constant fighting between child #2 and child #3 can be a good thing to keep a mommy sane.

This one’s for you Scott…

Rick’s cousin Scott (from Richmond, VA) is in town for business. He came over for dinner tonight, to hang out, see our house and wrestle. Yes I said wrestle. When we told the big boys that Daddy’s cousin Scoot was coming they wanted to know one thing and one thing only.
“Does he like to wrestle?” Well seeing that Scott & his wife Meghan have 2 yr old Boy/Girl twins, we said “Yes he does”. So he was signed up for wrestling before he even arrived (poor Scott, just wanted a home cooked meal). We told Carson NOT to ask him to wrestle the second he walks in the door. So he patiently waited and told Scott at dinner, that he had to wait to ask him to wrestle, because Mommy told him not to ask when he walked in the door.
So they wrestled. Rick took pictures on Scott’s camera, so maybe he’ll email them over so I can add them to this post. Anyway Scott is a dedicated blog reader of ours, he may be the only one in our family! ha! But he reads it so Scott this ones for you buddy. Thanks for coming over we had a great time talking “twin talk”. Oh and when you left Griffin came out of his room crying because he wanted to say goodbye & hug you. They said they watched you from their window and they were so sad. Carson’s exact words were “I wanted him to stay for 50 days“. ha! Not sure Meghan would go for that. :)

It’s Official…

It’s official…After 15 months and 28 days Cooper finally decided to walk for us. We had a little chat with him and let him know that on Wed. he would be 16 months and we were going to turn him in to ECI (early childhood intervention). They were going to come out and find out why he was taking so long. It turns out he just wanted to wait until he was good & ready. Here is a cute video of him tonight. The quality is really bad but you get the idea anyways. I’ll remake it in the day and re post tomorrow.

Dr. Mike’s Fall Festival

The month of October is a little crazy schedule-wise with our family. For the next few weekends we are booked and over booked with stuff to do.
On Sat. we went to a fall festival to celebrate Dr. Mike & 30 yrs of practice. (he is one of Rick’s friends) They had a moon walk for the kids, a fire truck with a huge ladder, face painting and even Rick and I were able to have a massage. What a treat! My only problem is that I worked out hard at the gym on Thursday & Friday and the massage sort of hurt! But I’m not complaining, a massage is a massage right?! Here are some cute pictures of the kids.

We don’t know the kid in the background! I tried to blurr him out but didn’t have much luck he was just there!
Having some sausage wraps for lunch.
