We’re back from a week long road trip through 5 states and nearly 3,000 miles driven! We had several stops along the way with fun activities planned for our kids. Here is a quick collage from my iphone of our adventures. I’m loving the instagram app, it’s so much fun, even better than FB because its all pictures. I’m cozyimpressions if you want to follow.
I just returned from my annual mother daughter trip to NYC. This year we celebrated my 34th birthday while we were there. What a great time we had with our friends. We saw The Adam’s Family, front row center, it was hilarious! A must see. And we dined at many, many fantastic restaurants. So good that I will, once again, make you a NYC restaurant guide like I did last year and the years before. Side note: We made reservations at all of these a month before, except for the Shake Shack.
1. Mesa Grill this is Bobby Flay’s restaurant, and a favorite of mine. We discovered this last June in NYC and decided to go back for a second time. I had the lobster, but a MUST have is the side dish: The Roasted Corn with Chipotle Aioli, Lime and Cotija- YUM!
2. The Boat House This is a favorite we have gone to over the past 10 years. Be prepared to wait at least 1-2 hours for your meal. I promise it’s worth it, and they do NOT take reservations. You will wait NO matter what day of the week it is. We typically do Sunday brunch there, but this year we opted for lunch on a Thursday- 1.5 hour wait. This is located in Central Park and seating is outside overlooking the little lake.
3. Balthazar - A French trendy restaurant, my mom’s all time fave. We also go here EVERY time we go to NY. Balthazar is located in Soho, a very swanky part of town that happens to be my favorite place to shop and walk around. Must Eat- The Macaroni and Cheese, oh boy this is the best I’ve ever had. In fact I order this every single time we go, ha! We always go here for their Lunch.
4. Babbo Mario Batali’s Italian restaurant. WOW this was a new find by our friend Patty, and boy it was a good one. I had the ravioli filled with sweet potatoes and I’m still thinking about them, yum! We also had FRESH strawberry gelati , holy cow it was delish!
5. The Shake Shack We ate at the one on the Upper West side for lunch and the line was out the door and to the corner. Wow, great burger, fast service, good price. A must see.
6. The Park We met my cousin & her husband for lunch here. This was recommended by Kate Spade, so we thought we’d give it a try. The atmosphere was really terrific, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service seemed really slow, but still a fun time.
On Friday we headed to Pioneer Farms. They were having a home school day, so we met up with some of our favorite home school friends. What a great time! So over at the farm they have people dressed like they would have been dressed back in the 1800s. They are all in character, showing the children how to wash clothes by hand, how to cook, how to milk cows & take care of a farm. The kids loved romping around the farm. The baby animals were super cute too, including a 2 week old baby longhorn and some little chicks. I am completely regretting my decision not to bring my big Mama Nikon, I only had my iphone. I’m happy with what I got but boy what a GREAT opportunity for a fantastic session. Anyone up for it?! Such cool old buildings, barns, fields you name it, it was all there in one great location. Anyway on to the pictures…
I’m loving the shake it photo app on my iphone these days. I put together a February post from my iphone pictures. These really reflect what our days look like over at the Warpula family household. The pictures are all wrong, technically, but they really show what a glimpse of what we do day after day. February was a full and busy month at our house. We went on a cruise, which was the highlight of the month for Rick and I. Our twins turned, 7, we took a trip over the the San Antonio Zoo, Presley had a playday, Parker had a fun Valentines night at gymnastics, the boys & I went on a Mother Son Date at the bowling alley, Maggie got shaved and went swimming in lake Travis, Cooper started swim lessons, Presley is practically running all over the place and is an expert climber, etc etc etc… Here are some of our Feb. moments.
Another iphone app, that Rick and I have been especially loving is the Words With Friends app. If you don’t have it get it, our user name is twarpula. We’d love to play you. It’s a Scrabble game that goes back and forth. We’ve been playing some friends from church along with our very good friends Kelly & J. in NC. So much fun! Go get it you Iphone users!!
For the new year I am going to try to blog my family on Monday’s- Mine on Monday. Inspired from another photographer out in CA http://michellenicoloffphotography.com/ . It seems like a great idea, since I feel like I don’t blog about my kids nearly enough. So for my Monday I am going to post some pictures from the Day In The Life of Me. These are mostly posted on my Facebook account, so for those of you that are not friends or even just my husband who is not on fb, here are some pictures of typical days at our house, park wherever. They are really just snap shots, but so many of them I don’t want to forget, like my baby sleeping, us doing school etc… All of these are taken with my iphone using the shake it photo app- which is really a great one to have I just love it!!
